Introducing Hines and Tridel’s Aqualina at Bayside Toronto

Bound by Sherbourne, Queens Quay, Parliament and Lake Ontario, Bayside is yet another brand new neighbourhood being developed in our city. On Wednesday, Tridel and Hines released details of the first condominium to be built in the area.

Aqualina at Bayside Toronto was designed by Miami-based Arquitectonica out of their New York office. It will provide the new waterfront neighbourhood with 363 suites and, like other buildings in the area close to the water, will retain a lower height of only 13 storeys. Unit sizes will range from one bedroom and 560 square feet, up to three bedrooms and 2,100 square feet. The building is designed to be a series of stacked cubes with angled balconies to take the best advantage of the views the lake will provide. While all buildings in Bayside Toronto will be LEED Gold Certified, Hines is striving to have Aqualina certified LEED Platinum.

At only 1.7 km to Union Station, the future Bayside Toronto is closer to downtown than most people realize, and at 13 acres, it’s a sizeable parcel. Throughout its development, 1,900 residences will be constructed on its blocks. A number of landscaped public parks, a water’s-edge promenade, through-streets and light-rail transit will be just some of the new features of this long neglected area of the city. Over its various phases, Bayside Toronto is expected represent an investment of a total of approximately $1.1 billion.
